Sonoma
Woodworker Makes an Artistic Journey....
Rik Lawrence of Sonoma spent years observing other artists before
becoming one himself.
He became a contractor along the way, and for three years was an
apprentice to Master Craftsman David Marks.
Today, Rik enjoys building one-of-a-kind structures, such as Southwestern-style
poolside cabanas, but he's best known for his contemporary
furniture, made of salvaged wood. He takes special care to display wood grain to its
best advantage.
Rik enjoys creating inlays of exotic woods. His popular "Surfboard Coffee Table" features inserts of Peminbuco wood from
Brazil, a hard-to-find wood that is often used for making violin
bows.
Rik's use of exotic woods and elegant design, combined with fine craftsmanship,
result in pieces that are timeless and one-of-a-kind.
